Project Goal & Challenge

Archstone Architects, a high-end architectural firm known for its minimalist and modern designs, had a website that was anything but. It was built on a generic, bloated theme that was slow, hard to update, and failed to showcase the visual impact of their work. The challenge was to create a digital portfolio that was as clean, elegant, and meticulously crafted as the buildings they design.

My Solution & Key Features

I developed a fully bespoke WordPress theme from scratch, focusing on performance, aesthetics, and a unique user experience.

• Minimalist & Asymmetrical Design: I designed a striking, asymmetrical layout in Figma that uses bold typography and large, immersive images. The design breaks away from standard templates, immediately signaling the firm’s creative and custom approach.

• Performance-First Architecture: The theme was built with a clean, lightweight codebase, avoiding the overhead of page builders. I implemented lazy-loading for all images and optimized assets, achieving a Google PageSpeed score of 97 and ensuring that their high-resolution project photos load instantly.

• Custom “Projects” Portfolio System: I created a custom post type specifically for their architectural projects. This allows the firm’s team to easily upload new projects with dedicated fields for location, year, project type, and a full photo gallery, all managed through an intuitive backend interface built with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).

The Results

The new website successfully repositioned Archstone Architects as a modern, design-forward leader in their field.
